When we started in 2011 the general perception of a dog walker or pet sitter was a neighbourhood kid being paid cash to do an unskilled job after school or on the weekend.
Heather & I owned a very special dog and a couple of very loved cats. There was no way we’d leave them in the hands of someone who didn’t have experience in dog handling and pet care, who didn’t have references and a police check, who couldn’t show they were to be trusted with our ‘fur-babies’ or to have access to our home.
Dog owners and pet owners have become more aware of the real needs of their pets. They know dogs need more than a boring quick walk around the block in the evening. Cats need more than a can opened and fresh meat spooned onto dried let-overs. Because rabbits and guinea pigs can succumb to illness so quickly real attention is needed when checking their well-being.
We have built our business and team on a solid foundation of good business practices, working closely with dog trainers and local vets, following council by-laws, only taking our client’s dog to off-leash, fenced dog parks, and maintaining good communication with all those who entrust their special pet into our care.
